The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has commended the Executive Chairman of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Hon. Ahmad Sani Mairago, for initiating an empowerment programme aimed at boosting livelihoods and strengthening economic activities at the grassroots.
The programme, which drew residents and key stakeholders from across the local government, provided support to beneficiaries in a move designed to enhance self-reliance and stimulate small-scale economic growth.
Speaking after the event, Waiya described the initiative as a practical demonstration of responsive and people-centered leadership. He noted that grassroots empowerment remains a critical tool in addressing socio-economic challenges, particularly among vulnerable populations.
βIt is encouraging to witness initiatives that directly impact the lives of the people and enhance their economic potential. Sustained efforts in this direction will go a long way in promoting inclusive development,β he said.
Beneficiaries and community members who attended the programme expressed satisfaction with the intervention, noting that the support received would significantly improve their sources of income and overall standard of living.
The commissioner further praised Hon. Mairago for what he described as a laudable and timely intervention, urging the council to sustain and expand such programmes to reach more communities within the local government.
He also called on other local government authorities to adopt similar people-oriented initiatives capable of delivering tangible benefits to citizens at the grassroots.
The empowerment drive is seen as part of broader efforts to promote economic resilience and foster sustainable development across communities in Kano State.
