Soludo Links Anti-fake Pastor Campaign To Social Reforms

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has said the ongoing crackdown on fake pastors in Anambra State is part of broader efforts aimed at social reform and protecting vulnerable residents from exploitation.

The governor made the remarks on Sunday during the All Knights Day celebration held at Catholic Diocese of Awka, where he explained that the campaign was designed to address deceptive practices and other social vices affecting communities across the state.

According to Soludo, several suspects linked to the activities of fake religious operators had already been arrested and were assisting security agencies with investigations.

He stated that the initiative aligns with his administration’s vision of building “a new Anambra” founded on discipline, accountability, and stronger social values.

The governor also urged political leaders across the country to embrace courageous reforms, stressing that leadership should always prioritize what is right over what is convenient.

Soludo commended the Catholic Diocese of Awka for what he described as its role in promoting moral values and contributing to societal development.

Speaking further, the governor praised the impact of the Anambra Burial Law, noting that it had helped reduce excessive spending on funerals and encouraged more modest burial practices within communities.

He also announced support for charity activities organized by the Knights, particularly visits to orphanages, while encouraging them to remain committed to service and humanitarian causes.

In his homily, the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Paulinus Ezeokafor, described knighthood as a call to discipline, humility, and responsibility.

Represented by the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Iheanacho, the bishop urged members of the order to remain close to the people and avoid elitism while preserving their moral voice in society.
