The engagement was prompted by voice notes and online videos and circulars urging residents of particular areas in Kano to remain indoors on Friday.

As well as renewed discussions surrounding the tragic killing of 16 hunters last year around the Ramadan season in Uromi, Edo State… narratives which some feared could heighten tensions within parts of Kano.

During the meeting, the Police Command assured the Inter-tribe Forum that the situation remains fully under control.
The Command emphasized that security agencies are working closely with the Kano State Government to carefully manage developments and ensure public safety.

The Police made it clear that there is no cause for panic and no justification for any form of anarchy.

Residents were urged to disregard unverified messages and avoid spreading content capable of causing unnecessary fear.

The Command appreciated the proactive initiative of the Inter-tribe Community Support Forum in seeking clarification and collaboration rather than allowing rumours to escalate.

To strengthen coordination, the PPRO connected the Forum directly with the State Intelligence Department and encouraged the immediate forwarding of any suspicious information or inciting materials for swift response. He further gave out and encouraged members of the public to always report cases to the command Emergency lines:

The Forum also raised concerns about alleged harassment and intimidation of youths in Sabon Gari by some personnel operating outside their jurisdictions, as well as the urgent need for increased manpower at outposts serving expanding communities around Jaba, Rimaye, Panisau, Ungogo, Kumantaka, Brigade and adjoining areas.

The OC SID assured the delegation of prompt attention to these issues and reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and community-focused policing.
