In a significant move to strengthen the Kano Network of NGOs (KANET) , Barr. Nura Ahmad Muhammad was appointed as the new Chairman during a special Iftar hosted by Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Chairman of the AMG Foundation, on Sunday, 8th March 2026.
The event brought together the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kano state on NGOs, Hon. Nasiru Isa Dikko (Jarma), the Senior Special Assistant on Reformatory Institutions, Hon. Abubakar Muhammad Inuwa, and members of KANET, marking the commemoration of World NGO Day 2026 and fostering stronger partnerships between government and civil society.
Dr. Magashi emphasized the importance of the Special Adviser’s office in supporting NGOs across the state and revealed that KANET would visit the office after Eid al-Fitr to explore collaboration opportunities. Hon. Dikko praised Dr. Magashi for the initiative, affirming his office’s commitment to advice, collaboration, and partnership in advancing Kano’s development agenda.
The new KANET executive leadership, set to serve for the next two years, includes Zainab Nasir Ahmad as Co-Chair, Safiya Inuwa as Secretary, Ahmad Sani Saye as Partnership and Engagements Officer, Aftahana Dahiru Sarina as Advocacy and Policy Officer, Dr. Binta Rufai as Resource Mobilization Officer, Auwal Adam Sansan as Capacity Development Officer, Mustapha Salis as Publicity Secretary, and Turad Suraj as Financial Secretary.

The appointment of Barr. Nura Ahmad Muhammad as Chairman is expected to bring renewed energy and direction to KANET, enhancing collaboration among civil society organizations and strengthening their impact across the state.
