Turkish Airlines, Air Peace Sign Deal to Boost Global Connectivity

Turkish Airlines and Air Peace have entered into a Bilateral Special Prorate Agreement aimed at strengthening air connectivity between Nigeria, Africa, and key global destinations.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Lagos by Air Peace spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, who explained that the partnership is designed to simplify international travel for passengers on both airlines.

According to him, the agreement allows travellers to book single-ticket journeys across the two carriers, with coordinated flight schedules and streamlined baggage handling processes. The arrangement applies to selected routes and eligible itineraries, offering passengers more seamless connections across multiple destinations.

Osifo-Whiskey noted that under the deal, passengers flying with Turkish Airlines into Lagos will be able to connect easily to Air Peace’s domestic and regional routes within Nigeria and across West Africa. In the same vein, Air Peace passengers will gain access to Turkish Airlines’ extensive international network through Istanbul, with connections spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

He added that the partnership is expected to deepen travel ties between Nigeria and Türkiye, while also opening up new opportunities in trade and tourism across West and Central Africa.

Commenting on the agreement, Özlem Özyön, Senior Vice-President for International Relations and Alliances at Turkish Airlines, said the collaboration aligns with the airline’s strategy to expand its footprint across Africa.

“This interline agreement reinforces our commitment to expanding connectivity across Africa. By combining our global reach with Air Peace’s regional strength, we offer more travel options, improved convenience, and greater accessibility,” she said.

On his part, Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, described the partnership as a significant step in positioning Nigeria as a hub for international aviation.

“This partnership marks a milestone in positioning Nigeria at the centre of global connectivity. Integrating our network with Turkish Airlines’ reach offers seamless connections, reduces travel complexity, and strengthens Nigeria as a key aviation gateway,” he said.

Ngala further highlighted that Turkish Airlines operates modern wide-body aircraft on its Lagos route, providing premium onboard services, award-winning catering, and advanced entertainment systems.

He also noted that Air Peace continues to expand its operations, with a fleet of over 50 aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s, and Embraer jets, reinforcing its growing role in Africa’s aviation sector.
