A member of the House of Representatives representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hassan Danjuma, has died.

The lawmaker reportedly passed away on Friday night in Abuja after a prolonged illness said to have lasted over a year, according to emerging details from close associates.

His death was also confirmed in a Facebook post by Saifullahi Hassan, a media aide to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who noted that the late lawmaker had been seen in public earlier in the week.

According to the statement, Danjuma attended a political meeting on Tuesday at Kwankwaso’s residence in Abuja as part of preparations for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) state congress in Kano.

The late legislator was elected into the House of Representatives in 2023 under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), before later aligning with the African Democratic Congress.

He was described as an active participant in political engagements until his death, although sources indicate he had been managing health challenges prior to his passing.

Danjuma, a first-time federal lawmaker, represented the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa constituency and was regarded as a key political figure within his constituency and Kano’s broader political landscape.

He is survived by three wives and 18 children.

Meanwhile, arrangements for his burial are expected to take place in Abuja, with funeral prayers scheduled for Saturday afternoon at his residence.

Further details are expected to be made public by family members and associates.
