The National Women Coordinator of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and Special Adviser on Community Policing to the Governor of Kano State, Hon. Barr. Maimuna Umar, has reaffirmed the need for stronger collective action to combat violence against women.

Maimuna made the call while participating in activities marking International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA).

During the programme, she served as a resource person and delivered a presentation titled “Combat Violence Against Women,” where she highlighted the importance of protecting women’s rights, promoting mutual respect, and encouraging communities to take shared responsibility in addressing violence against women.

The event was organised under the theme “Give to Gain,” which emphasised the importance of commitment, support, and empowerment of women in society.

As part of her engagements, Maimuna also visited the police constable recruitment screening centre to observe the ongoing exercise. The visit enabled her to assess the process and ensure that the screening was conducted in an orderly and transparent manner.

Her participation in the activities underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing, promote women’s empowerment, and support the development of the Nigeria Police Force.
