The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to boosting industrial development through strategic collaboration with the Turkey.
This position was made known during a high-level meeting held at the Government House in Kano with the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, alongside a delegation of Turkish investors and business leaders.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani highlighted plans to reposition Kano as a major industrial hub within Nigeria and across West Africa. He noted that partnerships with industrially advanced nations like Turkey are key to achieving this vision.
Governor Yusuf expressed readiness to work closely with Turkish partners in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and commerce, aimed at improving service delivery and driving economic expansion.
He assured potential investors of a business-friendly environment backed by policies designed to attract foreign investment, enhance ease of doing business, and safeguard investments.
The governor also emphasized his administration’s focus on strengthening institutions, developing human capital, and promoting innovation through technical cooperation and knowledge exchange with Turkish counterparts.
In his remarks, Ambassador Poroy stated that the visit was intended to strengthen bilateral ties between Kano State and Turkey, particularly in areas of trade and economic development. He further disclosed plans by the Turkish government to establish a visa office in Kano to ease travel processes for residents and business stakeholders.
The meeting concluded with extensive discussions and exchange of ideas between officials of the Kano State Government and members of the Turkish delegation, signaling a step forward in fostering international cooperation for the state’s development.
