CAC Announces Review to Cybersecurity Breach, Advises Stakeholders to Strengthen Account Security

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has confirmed it is reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to parts of its information systems.

In a public notice issued on April 15, 2026, the Commission disclosed that the breach affected “limited aspects” of its systems, adding that immediate steps were taken to contain the situation and prevent further compromise.

According to the statement, the Commission activated its response protocols promptly and is currently working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), alongside other relevant government agencies and partners, to determine the full scope and impact of the incident.

The CAC noted that containment measures have already been implemented, while additional safeguards have been put in place to strengthen the security of its systems.

While investigations continue, the Commission has advised stakeholders to take precautionary measures, including monitoring their records on the CAC portal, updating login credentials, and remaining cautious of unsolicited communications that may arise in connection with the breach.

The agency reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s corporate registry, stating that further updates would be provided as necessary.

The notice was signed by the Commission’s management.
