Police in Abia has apprehended one Isaac Emeahara 36 yrs and Michael John 58yrs in possession of firearms, conducting illegal stop and search with intent to rob and extort money from motorists, also arrested is Ebere Christian Sunday ‘male’ 27yrs who along two of his male friends, currently at large, defiled a 13yrs old girl.
The commissioner of Police, CP Dalandi Isa disclosed this through a press briefing at the state command, Umuahia.
He said another arrest was made in Igbere, Bende and Uzuakoli Divisional Police Headquarters, in conjunction with the Command Tactical Team, raided a criminal hideout at Isieke Ugwueke, and apprehended one Onyema Ike, 36 yrs, Chukwuma Kelvin,30, Chidera Fredrick, Male, 37 yrs and Onyekachi Okafor, Male, 36 yrs
The Commissioner noted that expended cartridges, local gun powder, tramadol and substances suspected to be hard drugs were recovered while suspects have been prosecuted and remanded in custody.
He hinted that at Obehie Divisional Police Headquarters on 10/03/2026 arrested Ebere Christian Sunday ‘male’ 27yrs who along two of his male friends, currently at large, defiled a 13yrs old girl and threatened her with a knife if she shouts or discloses their act to her mother.
He revealed that the suspect has been arrested and confessed to the crime while efforts are in top gear to arrest other fleeing suspects. He name the exhibit recovered to include, one knife, torn clothes and pants with blood stains, he said the suspect has been charged to court.
The police boss further disclosed that the Obingwa Divisional Police Headquarters on 22/03/2026 apprehended Chizuruoke Monday 28yrs and Onyekachi Onyema 29yrs of Obingwa LGA Abia State who allegedly stole a two weeks old baby girl of a mentally unstable woman around April 2020, after which they fled from the village .
CP Isa revealed that Investigation is on as efforts are ongoing to arrest the buyers and rescue the baby.
He disclosed that operatives of Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia arrested Victor Okoro ‘male’ 32yrs of Umueze Umuahia North LGA of an alleged killing of his girlfriend Chidinma Godwin ‘Female’ 28yrs ,who was rushed to Federal Medical center (FMC) Umuahia where she was confirmed dead and the corpse has been deposited at FMC Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. He said the suspect has been charged to court.
The CP stated that Operatives of Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with sister security agencies on 19/03/2026 arrested fourteen male suspects armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons, for breaking into a Students lodge, damaging the lodge facilities and made away with stolen phones.
He said the victims who sustained injuries from the robbery has been rushed to the hospital for medical attention and exhibits has been recovered, normalcy has been restored and Investigation is ongoing.
He further disclosed that one Emmanuel Okoro Kanu ‘male’ 52yrs who had an altercation with Ndubisi Bassey ‘male’ 38yrs at Ugbo Village square, stabbed him with a knife on his head and ear. The victim was rushed to the hospital and later passed on while on treatment. He said the body has been deposited in the Mortuary for preservation and autopsy and Investigation is ongoing.
