A mobile magistrate court in Ogun State has convicted 20 motorists for various traffic violations during an enforcement operation carried out by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The court session, presided over by Chief Magistrate O.T. Odusanya, was part of the second phase of a mobile court exercise organised by the FRSC’s Ogun State Command.

The command’s spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, disclosed in a statement that the offenders were arraigned for different traffic-related offences and subsequently fined by the court.

According to the FRSC, the operation targeted major road safety violations such as failure to install or use speed limit devices, overloading, non-use of seat belts, and issues related to driver’s licences, tyres, vehicle licences, number plates, and general vehicle maintenance.

In total, 40 offences were recorded during the operation. Thirty-nine of the offences attracted various fines, while none of the offenders received a jail sentence.

Speaking during the court proceedings, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwunmi Fasakin, said the mobile court exercise is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen traffic law enforcement across the state.

Fasakin explained that the initiative helps improve compliance with road safety regulations and reduce road traffic crashes.

He also commended the orderly conduct of the proceedings and acknowledged the support of other security agencies during the operation.

The sector commander urged motorists to obey traffic rules, ensure their vehicles are properly maintained, and carry valid documents while driving to avoid sanctions and help prevent road accidents.
