The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course for prospective corps members across the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the scheme’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who outlined key dates and guidelines for participants.
According to Embu, the three-week orientation course will hold simultaneously in all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory for eligible prospective corps members.
She stated that the exercise will commence with the reception and registration of participants on April 22 and end at midnight on April 24 across all orientation camps nationwide.
Embu added that the swearing-in ceremony for prospective corps members is scheduled to take place on April 24, marking the official commencement of orientation activities across the country.
She further disclosed that the orientation course will come to an end on May 12, after which corps members will be deployed to their respective places of primary assignment nationwide.
The NYSC spokesperson urged all Nigerian graduates mobilised for the service year to ensure they travel safely to their assigned camps ahead of the programme.
She reiterated the scheme’s warning against night travel, stressing the importance of adhering strictly to safety guidelines.
“Prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it is 6.00 p.m. and pass the night at any available lodge or secure location nearby. They are to continue their journeys the following morning,” she said.
Embu emphasised that compliance with these safety measures is critical to ensuring the wellbeing of participants as they move across the country.
The NYSC orientation course is a compulsory programme designed to prepare Nigerian graduates for the one-year national service scheme, which promotes national unity and integration by deploying participants to states other than their states of origin.
