NAF Intensifies Air Operations, Destroys Terrorist Hideouts In North-East

The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its ongoing air offensives against terrorist groups in the North-East region, carrying out precision strikes on identified terrorist enclaves in parts of the region.

The operations were conducted on May 19, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI at Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains.

According to the Air Force, the attacks followed credible intelligence reports and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions which identified terrorist logistics hubs, structures and assembly points hidden within the affected locations.

The NAF disclosed that its air assets successfully destroyed several terrorist hideouts and operational structures during the strikes, while also neutralising a number of insurgents and disrupting planned attacks.

Speaking on the operations, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustaining coordinated military operations alongside other security agencies and allied partners to combat terrorism across the country.

He stated that intelligence-driven air operations would continue to target and destroy terrorist hideouts, logistics networks and operational bases wherever they are located.

The Air Force added that the intensified operations form part of broader efforts aimed at restoring peace and improving security in the North-East region.
