Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 individuals allegedly involved in supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists, in what military authorities describe as a significant breakthrough against insurgent support networks in the North-East.

In a statement via the Army Headquarters official Facebook page the suspects were reportedly intercepted while transiting through the Gubio area towards the Gudumbali axis, where they were believed to be delivering supplies to terrorist elements. According to preliminary findings, some of the arrested individuals admitted to participating in the operation, citing economic hardship as a major factor that led to their involvement.

The development has raised concerns over the growing pattern of civilian participation in activities that sustain insurgency, particularly through the provision of logistics and other forms of support.

The Nigerian Army, in response, issued a strong warning to the public, stressing that any form of collaboration with terrorist groups.

including supplying materials, sharing intelligence, or offering assistance constitutes a serious offence with severe implications for national security.

Military authorities emphasized that the fight against terrorism requires the active involvement of citizens, noting that ongoing operations rely heavily on the vigilance and cooperation of local communities. Residents were urged to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities within their areas.

The Army also highlighted the importance of addressing underlying socio-economic challenges that make individuals vulnerable to recruitment by criminal groups. It called for sustained investment in community development initiatives, including empowerment programmes, skills acquisition, and improved access to basic services, as part of a broader strategy to counter insurgency.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigerian Army assured that it will continue to intensify operations aimed at protecting lives and restoring peace across affected regions. It, however, stressed that lasting stability can only be achieved through a unified approach that combines military action with community support and long-term development efforts.

Citizens were therefore encouraged to stand firm against terrorism and support the Armed Forces in ongoing efforts to secure the country.
