Education Secretaries from 44 LGAs Declare Support for Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Applaud Major Education Reforms

The Forum of Education Secretaries across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State has reaffirmed its strong support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, praising his administration’s bold and unprecedented reforms in the education sector.


The declaration was made during a solidarity visit to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who received the delegation on behalf of the Governor.


Leading the delegation, the Forum’s Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Nura Suleiman, stated that the Education Secretaries found it necessary to publicly align with the present administration due to what he described as the exceptional priority given to education under Governor Yusuf’s leadership.


He noted that the significant budgetary allocations to the sector reflect a genuine commitment to revitalizing and strengthening the education system in Kano State. According to him, the Forum played an active role in ensuring the smooth distribution of free school materials and textbooks provided by the government, describing the initiative as a landmark intervention that has positively impacted schools across the state.


Alhaji Nura also commended the administration for resolving the long-standing delay in teachers’ promotions, describing the decision as a major morale booster that has improved productivity, dedication, and overall performance within the teaching workforce.


The Forum assured the Commissioner of its continued grassroots mobilization efforts in support of Governor Yusuf’s continuity agenda.


In his response, Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya emphasized that education remains the foundation of societal advancement and economic transformation. He described the Governor’s sustained investment in the sector as a strategic move aimed at securing a better future for Kano residents.

Comrade Waiya further acknowledged the critical role of Education Secretaries in implementing policies at the grassroots level, stressing that their professionalism and dedication are vital to the success of the ongoing reforms.


He revealed that the allocation of 30 percent of the 2025 budget and 31 percent of the 2026 budget to education demonstrates the administration’s determination to reposition the sector for long-term growth and excellence.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Forum for its solidarity and reaffirmed that the “Kano First” agenda remains focused on promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, and shared prosperity across the state.
