The global fan community of Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has expanded further following the official rebranding of the Davido Supporters Group International (DSGI) to the Davido International Supporters Group (DIS G).
The announcement was made during a media interaction held in New York, United States, where the group unveiled its new identity aimed at strengthening its international appeal and fan engagement.
Speaking at the event, the convener of the fan club, Ambassador (Rev.) Chukwudi Chuck Eke, said the name change reflects a more modern and globally relevant identity for the growing supporters’ movement.
According to him, the new name better captures the vision and structure of the group as a worldwide fan platform dedicated to promoting Davido’s music, brand, and cultural influence.
Eke explained that the acronym “DIS G” carries both symbolic and cultural meaning, noting that in pidgin English, it can be interpreted as “This G” or “This Guy,” a phrase that naturally sparks curiosity and connection.
He said the expression can refer both to Davido himself and the wider global community of his supporters.
The songwriter also revealed that the inspiration behind the new identity led to the creation of a music project titled DIS G, designed as a tribute to the award-winning singer.
According to him, the song concept developed organically as he began writing lyrics inspired by the fan club’s rebranding and its mission.
He disclosed that the melody for the track has already been produced, while work is ongoing on the accompanying music video.
Eke said the song is expected to become the official anthem of the fan club and is designed to resonate with fans across different parts of the world.
The track is being performed by his protégé, Master BG, whom he described as a multi-talented singer, dancer, and actor.
He added that the project is being developed in multiple versions, including Afrobeats, reggae, and gospel renditions to broaden its reach and appeal.
Eke expressed optimism that the music video would be completed and released before the end of summer 2026.
He noted that the Davido International Supporters Group remains committed to building one of the strongest global fan communities in support of the Afrobeats superstar and his growing international legacy.
