With the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election scheduled for February 21, 2026, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Moses Paul (DrMo), has outlined an ambitious governance agenda aimed at restoring dignity to education, improving environmental management, and strengthening grassroots security across the council.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE Television, Dr. Paul emphasized that access to quality education would be a cornerstone of his administration if elected, stressing that no child in AMAC should be denied learning opportunities based on background or social status.
“Access to quality education must be guaranteed, regardless of whose child it is,” he said, adding that his administration would work closely with teachers to restore their dignity and improve working conditions.
Dr. Paul, who holds a PhD in Environmental Resource Planning, said his professional background places him in a strong position to address AMAC’s long-standing waste management challenges. According to him, effective waste collection systems and functional environmental institutions would be prioritized to improve sanitation and public health.
On infrastructure, the ADC candidate pledged to fix rural roads and expand street lighting, describing them as critical to economic activity and community security. He noted that poor road networks and inadequate lighting have continued to expose residents to insecurity and limit development in several communities.
Dr. Paul also vowed to tackle double taxation and dismantle networks of touts who harass and embarrass residents in the name of revenue collection.
“The era of touts going about harassing people will be over,” he said, promising a more transparent and humane revenue system.
Emphasizing his deep roots in the council, Dr. Paul noted that he completed his primary education and doctoral studies within AMAC, giving him firsthand understanding of the area’s challenges and potential.
“I understand these issues because I grew up here,” he stated. “We will put in place programmes that ensure AMAC matches its peers as the true administrative headquarters of the Federal Capital Territory.”
As campaigns intensify ahead of the February 21 polls, Dr. Paul’s message is centered on competence, local knowledge, and service-driven leadership, positioning him as a candidate seeking to align governance with the everyday realities of AMAC residents.
