The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCE) into Federal Technical Colleges across the country, reaffirming its commitment to free technical and vocational education.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo. According to the statement, the initiative was approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Tunji Alausa.

Dr. Alausa announced that registration for the examination will commence on January 26 and close on May 24, while the examination itself is scheduled to hold nationwide on June 6.

He explained that the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s strategy to expand access to quality technical and vocational education and to equip young Nigerians with practical, employable and industry-relevant skills.

Prospective candidates were advised to complete their applications through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal. The minister emphasized that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for all applicants and remains a prerequisite for successful registration.

Dr. Alausa further reiterated that education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded upon admission, underscoring the government’s commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment and enhanced national productivity.

He added that candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 are eligible to apply and urged parents, guardians and applicants to strictly comply with all application requirements.

The minister reaffirmed that the Ministry of Education remains focused on expanding access to free and quality technical education to promote self-reliance, support economic growth and drive sustainable national development.
