The Northern Youth Assembly (NYA), also known as Majalisar Matasan Arewa, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people in Kano State and across the region to take responsibility for their future and contribute meaningfully to societal development.

This was stated by the National Secretary of the Assembly, Dr. Hafiz Garba, during his welcome address at the All Kano Youth Conference, a one-day event held on Monday at Northwest University, Kano.
Dr. Garba emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people move beyond complaints and begin to offer practical, solution-driven ideas to societal challenges.
“History will not remember what we wished for, but what we worked for,” he told participants.
“Let today mark the beginning of ideas that translate into action, unity that births progress, and dialogue that shapes policy.”
The conference was themed “Setting the Agenda for the Development of Kano State.”
Delivering the keynote address, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Hon. Comr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, urged youths to rise with purpose and commit themselves to building meaningful and productive lives for both themselves and society.
He stressed that a fulfilled life is anchored on integrity, dedication, determination, and self-discipline, while also advising young people to embrace patience and strategic planning in pursuing their goals.

The event attracted representatives of key security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Also in attendance were academics, student union leaders, youth and women groups, as well as media practitioners.

One of the highlights of the conference was the presentation of Awards of Honour to the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Hon. Comr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and other distinguished individuals, in recognition of their contributions to youth development and good governance.
