Gov. Yusuf Warns Appointees Against Poor Performance, Demands Accountability

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has cautioned commissioners and political advisers in his administration to justify the trust placed in them by delivering tangible results and remaining committed to effective governance.

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf spoke during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah homage in Kano, where he stressed that his administration would not tolerate negligence, poor performance or lack of commitment from public office holders.

He reminded members of the State Executive Council and political aides that accountability and measurable achievements remain key priorities of his administration, urging them to recommit themselves to serving the people and advancing government programmes.

According to the governor, any appointee unable to meet expectations should either improve performance or be prepared to leave office.

Yusuf, however, singled out the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Dahir Hashim, for praise, describing him as innovative, hardworking and one of the standout performers in his cabinet despite being the youngest commissioner.

He commended the commissioner’s efforts in promoting government activities and strengthening communication between the administration and residents.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to recognising competence, dedication and excellence in public service.
