President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after defeating his challenger, Stanley Osifo, in the party’s nationwide primaries.
According to results announced during the ongoing national collation at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Tinubu polled 10.99 million votes, while Osifo secured 16,504 votes.
The APC presidential primaries were reportedly conducted across 8,809 wards nationwide, with governors and senior party officials serving as coordinators and collation officers in their respective states.
The exercise is being supervised by the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim.
Tinubu dominated the contest across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recording overwhelming victories in most states.
Despite the wide margin, Osifo posted notable figures in a few states, including Niger where he scored 5,248 votes, Kano with 2,675 votes, Lagos with 1,186 votes, Abia with 1,007 votes, Oyo with 929 votes, Benue with 779 votes, and Nasarawa with 768 votes.
The outcome further strengthens Tinubu’s position within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
