The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11, 2026, and end on July 10, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna.
INEC explained that the second phase of the exercise was temporarily suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow for the clean-up of the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.
According to the commission, the final phase presents another opportunity for eligible Nigerians particularly those who have recently turned 18 or missed earlier registration periods to register and obtain their voter credentials.
In addition to new registrations, INEC urged already registered voters to take advantage of the exercise to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details. These services are accessible through the commission’s online portal or at its offices across all states and local government areas.
INEC also disclosed that the voter register will be displayed for public verification and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026. The commission said this process is essential for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and credibility of the register.
Reaffirming its readiness, INEC assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise and called on eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
