The Kano State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Musa Shuaibu Ungogo, has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, while raising concerns over Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
In a video message in Hausa and shared with Talkexprex, Ungogo cautioned against what he described as a gradual drift towards a one-party system, alleging that the increasing defection of opposition figures to the ruling party could weaken democratic values.
He called on Nigerians, particularly the masses, to resist such a trend and instead support alternative political platforms like the ADC in order to preserve multiparty democracy.
The ADC chairman also criticized what he termed the selective targeting of opposition leaders by federal authorities, alleging that some arrests lack clear justification. He contrasted this with the persistent threat posed by bandits and terrorists, noting that many communities continue to suffer attacks.
Ungogo further expressed sympathy to victims of the recent bomb explosion in Maiduguri, which resulted in casualties and destruction in parts of markets and health facilities.
He urged Nigerians to remain united, law-abiding, and committed to peaceful coexistence, especially during the festive period.
