Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has praised its President General, Senator John Azuta Mbata, as he marks his 66th birthday, describing his leadership as purposeful, visionary and transformative for the Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
The pan-Igbo body, in a congratulatory message issued by its National Executive Committee, said Senator Mbata’s tenure has brought renewed confidence, unity and strategic direction to Ohanaeze Ndigbo within a short period in office. The statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, highlighted his commitment, courage and deep sense of responsibility to the Igbo nation.
According to the organisation, Mbata’s leadership has translated into tangible, people-focused initiatives aimed at cultural preservation and economic development across Alaigbo. The NEC noted that under his guidance, Ohanaeze has moved beyond rhetoric to action-driven reforms that reflect the aspirations of the Igbo people.
One of the landmark initiatives credited to his administration is the establishment of the Ohanaeze Professorial Endowment Chairs across the seven Igbo-speaking states. The programme was described as a strategic effort to strengthen academic research, promote the Igbo language and preserve cultural heritage for future generations. The re-establishment and funding of the Alaigbo Stabilisation Fund was also highlighted as a critical step towards stimulating economic revival and collective prosperity in the region.
Ohanaeze further disclosed that Senator Mbata’s achievements within less than one year in office earned him widespread acclaim, including a standing ovation at the Imeobi Ohanaeze meeting held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu in December 2025.
Speaking on Mbata’s leadership style, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prince Okey Nwadinobi, said the President General has consistently demonstrated selfless service and a results-oriented approach to leadership. He noted that Mbata’s actions have continued to inspire unity, hope and progress across Alaigbo.
As Senator Azuta Mbata celebrates his 66th birthday, the National Executive Committee reaffirmed its loyalty and unwavering support, pledging to stand firmly behind him as he continues to lead the organisation. The body wished him good health, wisdom and renewed strength as he advances the cause of Alaigbo and humanity at large.
