Adamawa Govt Imposes 24-Hour Curfew on Lamurde LGA After Fresh Violence

By TalkExprex

The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed communal violence that erupted on Sunday evening. The directive was announced through a statement issued by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor.

According to the government, the curfew became necessary after reports of attacks in several communities within the LGA, leading to rising tension and threats to public safety. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ordered security agencies to move immediately into the affected areas to restore peace and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts movement across Lamurde and its surrounding communities. Residents have been urged to stay indoors and comply fully with security operatives enforcing the order. Authorities warn that anyone found violating the curfew will be arrested and prosecuted.

The state government also announced the suspension of schools, markets and all forms of public gatherings in the area until further notice. Additional security personnel, including tactical units, have been deployed to contain the unrest and stabilize the situation.

As the crisis continues to unfold, the government called on community leaders and residents to remain calm and offer useful information that could help security agencies manage the situation and prevent further escalation.
